Flooded Basement in Buffalo, NY
This flooded basement experienced 12 inches of water damage after heavy rains and sump pump failure. In the before picture you can see that the water meter is reading nearly 55% saturated wood. The after picture was taken after four days of dying with dehumidifiers and air movers. Here the water meter is reading 15% water content in these wall studs.
Different materials have different levels of dry. For wood, a 15% reading is the industry standard for dry, as all wood has some natural moisture in it to prevent deterioration and cracking.
After completing the drying of this finished basement we were also able to perform the reconstruction so the homeowners could return to using the space "Like it never even happened."
